Ondo Assembly Confirms Governor Aiyedatiwa’s Commissioner Nominees

The Ondo State House of Assembly has granted confirmation to the commissioner-nominees put forward by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The plenary session today, Tuesday, February 6th 2024, saw the formal approval of these nominees, marking a significant step forward for the state’s leadership team.
Last week, Governor Aiyedatiwa presented the names of six individuals for consideration as commissioners. Among them were Mrs. Omowumi Isaac, Mr. Olukayode Ajulo, Engr. Razaq Obe, Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan, Barrister Akinwumi Sowore, and Mr. Oseni Oyeniyi. While five of the nominees received the green light from the Assembly, Mrs Omowumi Isaac’s confirmation was deferred for a later screening session due to her absence.
The confirmation process followed a thorough screening conducted by the House Selection Committee, chaired by Speaker Olamide Oladiji. The recommendation for confirmation was backed by the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Abayomi Akinruntan, affirming the nominees’ suitability for their respective roles.
During the plenary, the Majority Leader, Mr. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, moved the motion for the consideration of the committee’s report and the confirmation of the nominees, a motion which received unanimous support from the House.
In his remarks, Speaker Oladiji extended congratulations to the confirmed commissioners, urging them to bring their expertise and dedication to bear in serving the people of Ondo State. He assured the executive of the House’s unwavering support, emphasizing the collective goal of delivering more dividends of democracy to the citizens.
Regarding the absence of Mrs. Omowumi Isaac, Speaker Oladiji clarified that she would undergo screening at a later date, ensuring a fair and thorough process for all nominees.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of his colleagues, Commissioner-designate Emmanuel Igbasan conveyed appreciation to Governor Aiyedatiwa for the honour bestowed upon them, pledging to uphold the trust and confidence placed in them by the government and the people of Ondo State.
With the confirmation of these nominees, the stage is set for enhanced governance and progress in Ondo State as the newly appointed commissioners prepare to embark on their duties with dedication and commitment to public service.
