The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for private candidates across Nigeria. According to Moyosola Adesina, the acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC Nigeria, out of the 80,904 candidates who sat for the examination, only 46,267 achieved a minimum of five credits.

Of this number, 35,830 candidates, representing 44.29%, obtained credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the candidates and reflects their dedication and hard work.

The examination, which took place between October 27 and December 20, 2023, saw an increase in entry figures compared to the previous year, with 85,600 candidates registering. The coordination and marking of candidates’ scripts involved over 4,000 examiners at seven marking venues across the country.

Special provisions were made for 211 candidates with varying degrees of special needs, ensuring their inclusion in the examination process. WAEC emphasized the importance of candidates checking their results on the official website before accessing digital copies of their certificates.
