Fire Engulfs Household of David Church in Lagos, Yet, Congregation Remains Resilient

In a devastating turn of events, the Household of David church, in Ikeja, Lagos State, witnessed the fiery destruction of its multi-million naira church auditorium. The blaze, which erupted around 10:00 am on Wednesday, sent shockwaves through the community, leaving behind a trail of charred remnants and heartache.
According to reports from the Lagos State Fire Service spokesperson, Amodu Shakiri, the inferno was sparked by the overheating of the auditorium’s ceiling, culminating in its collapse and the subsequent ignition of flames. Despite the valiant efforts of firefighting units from Alausa and Ikeja Fire Stations, alongside other emergency response agencies including LASAMBUS, LASEMA, and the Red Cross, the fire ravaged the church’s furnishings and infrastructure, leaving a scene of devastation in its wake.
Reacting to the tragedy, Senior Pastor Olusola Osunmakinde expressed the profound pain and disbelief felt by the congregation. In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Pastor Osunmakinde recounted the harrowing moment when a passerby callously mocked their faith amid the crisis, asking, “Where was Jesus when this happened?” Despite the anguish and loss, the pastor’s unwavering faith and resilience shone through as he declared the congregation’s determination to persevere, stating, “We will not back out because of this but by the grace of God, all things work together for good.”
While the flames may have consumed the physical edifice of the church, they failed to extinguish the spirit of hope and unity within the congregation. The church remains resolute in its commitment to serve and uplift its members.
